Getting started with DocketBridge
DocketBridge attaches the completed docket PDF from a ServiceM8 job to the matching Xero invoice, with "Include with online invoice" ticked. When you email the invoice from Xero, the docket goes with it.
Where DocketBridge runs
- DocketBridge works in the background. It has no screens inside ServiceM8. You set it up and check on it from your DocketBridge dashboard.
- Dockets completed in the ServiceM8 iOS app or the ServiceM8 Online Dashboard both work. DocketBridge treats them the same.
- It is for businesses in Australia and New Zealand that run jobs in ServiceM8 and invoice from Xero.
- DocketBridge is A$29 a month after a 14-day free trial, billed by DocketBridge. See billing.
Before you start
- Your field team completes the docket form on the ServiceM8 job itself.
- Your ServiceM8 invoices sync to Xero through the ServiceM8 Xero integration. DocketBridge works alongside it and does not create invoices.
- The Xero invoice number is the same as the ServiceM8 job number, for example job 1001 and invoice 1001.
- You have authority to connect the ServiceM8 account and the Xero organisation.
Set up in seven steps
- Create your account. Sign up with your business name, email and a password, then verify your email and log in. Your 14-day free trial starts when you create the account, and no card is needed. See your account.
- Connect ServiceM8. Create a read-only API key in ServiceM8, paste it into the "1. ServiceM8" card of your dashboard and press Save ServiceM8 key. See connect ServiceM8.
- Connect Xero. Press Connect Xero on the "2. Xero" card and authorise the organisation your ServiceM8 invoices sync to. See connect Xero.
- Choose which forms are dockets. Tick the form templates to attach, or leave them all unticked to attach every completed form. See choose forms.
- Choose which clients receive dockets. By default every client does. See client rules.
- Press Start. New workspaces start paused. Start needs both ServiceM8 and Xero connected. See start, pause and Recent activity.
- Test one docket. Complete a form on a ServiceM8 job and let its invoice sync to Xero. Press Run once now on your dashboard, then open the invoice in Xero and check the PDF is attached with "Include with online invoice" ticked. Email the invoice from Xero and confirm the docket arrives.
After setup
DocketBridge checks about every 5 minutes. Each docket it attaches is listed under Recent activity on your dashboard, along with any invoice it skipped and why. If a connection stops working or a payment fails, your dashboard shows it and DocketBridge emails you. See emails DocketBridge sends. You remain responsible for checking invoices and attachments before you send them.
