Choose which clients receive dockets

By default DocketBridge sends dockets for every client. Use client rules to leave some clients out, or to send dockets only for the clients who need them.

The two modes

  • Send for every client except the selected clients. This is the default. With nobody ticked, every client receives dockets.
  • Send only for the selected clients. Only the clients you tick receive dockets. With nobody ticked, nothing is sent.

Set your rule

  1. Connect ServiceM8 first. The "4. Which clients should receive dockets?" card then appears on your dashboard.
  2. Choose a mode.
  3. Tick the clients. The list shows your active ServiceM8 clients sorted by name. Type in Find a client to filter it.
  4. Press Save client rules. You see "Client rules saved".

If DocketBridge cannot load your clients from ServiceM8 when you save, you see "Unable to load ServiceM8 clients, try again" and nothing is changed. Ticked clients that are no longer active in ServiceM8 are dropped when you save.

How the rule is applied

  • Rules use the ServiceM8 client record, so renaming a client does not change the rule.
  • A job with no client is included in "every client except" mode and skipped in "only the selected clients" mode.
  • The rule is checked before the totals. An invoice skipped by the rule shows in Recent activity as "Skipped: client rule". It is counted as "other" in the Run once now message.
  • Changes apply from the next check. When you save new client rules, every invoice listed in Recent activity as "Skipped: client rule" is checked again at the next check, wherever it is in Xero, up to 25 a check, even if that check is weeks away (for example while paused). Its "Skipped: client rule" row is removed, and the docket is attached if the new rule allows it. A skip that was not seen again for 90 days is no longer listed, so it is not checked again.
  • Dockets already attached stay on their invoices when you change the rule.

If the list says no clients were found

"No active ServiceM8 clients were found." can also mean DocketBridge cannot read ServiceM8 at the moment. If you know you have clients, see troubleshooting.
