Free trial, billing and cancelling

DocketBridge is a paid subscription of A$29 a month after a 14-day free trial, billed by DocketBridge through Stripe, not by ServiceM8 or Xero.

Price

  • One plan: A$29 per month, in Australian dollars.
  • It covers all your jobs and dockets. There is no per-docket or per-invoice charge.
  • Your first paid month is 50% off (A$14.50). The discount is applied automatically the first time your account subscribes, so no code is needed. If you subscribe during your trial, it applies to your first payment when the trial ends. An account that subscribed before and comes back pays the full price.

Free trial

  • The trial lasts 14 days, includes every feature and needs no card.
  • It starts when you create your account, not when you connect ServiceM8 or Xero.
  • The Billing card on your dashboard shows "FREE TRIAL: N DAYS LEFT", and "FREE TRIAL: 1 DAY LEFT" on the last day.
  • No card is needed for the trial. Unless you subscribe, nothing is charged when it ends.
  • DocketBridge emails you 3 days before your trial ends and again when it ends, unless you have subscribed or switched off reminders. See emails DocketBridge sends.

Subscribe

  1. On the Billing card, press Subscribe for A$29/month. The button is there during the trial and after it ends.
  2. Stripe's secure checkout page opens. Enter your payment details there. Payment details are never entered in ServiceM8 or on a DocketBridge page, and DocketBridge never receives your card number.
  3. When you finish you return to your dashboard. Once Stripe confirms, the Billing card shows SUBSCRIBED. If you back out you see "Checkout cancelled".

Your subscription renews monthly until you cancel. Each account has one subscription. While you have one, even with a failed payment, Subscribe does not start another: it says "You already have a subscription. Use Manage billing", or opens the billing portal if a payment has failed.

Subscribing during your trial

  • Subscribe during your trial and you keep your free days, as long as at least 49 hours (just over 2 days) of the trial are left. Before you subscribe, the Billing card says "Subscribe now and keep your free days. Your first payment, 50% off, is taken when your trial ends on" and the date (without "50% off," if you have subscribed before). Stripe's checkout page says "You will not be charged until your DocketBridge free trial ends."
  • Nothing is charged at checkout. You return with "Subscribed. Your first payment is taken when your trial ends". The Billing card then shows SUBSCRIBED and "Your free trial continues. Your first payment is taken when it ends on" and the date. Your first payment is taken when the trial ends, with the 50% off if this is your first subscription.
  • With less than 49 hours left, the Billing card says "Your free trial is nearly over, so subscribing now starts your first paid month today at 50% off." (without "at 50% off" if you have subscribed before). Checkout then charges straight away, and you return with "Subscription active".
  • DocketBridge keeps running through the change. Nothing pauses when the trial ends.
  • Changed your mind? Cancel in Manage billing before the trial ends. The Billing card then says "Your subscription is cancelled and ends with your trial on" and the date, "Nothing will be charged." When the trial ends, attachments pause and the card shows TRIAL ENDED, as if you had not subscribed.

When the trial ends without a subscription

  • Automatic attachments pause. Each check stops before it contacts ServiceM8 or Xero.
  • Your account, connections and settings stay as they are, and you can still log in and change settings.
  • The Billing card shows TRIAL ENDED with a Subscribe button. If DocketBridge was running, the status reads "TRIAL ENDED, paused", and Run once now shows "Attachments are paused until you subscribe".
  • Once you subscribe, a running account resumes at the next check without pressing Start. DocketBridge then catches up on invoices updated in Xero since its last check, going back up to 90 days. It takes up to 50 of them a check, so a long gap can take a few checks.
  • Catching up starts from the last check DocketBridge finished for your account. If there is none to start from, for example because no check ever finished, the Billing card says "DocketBridge then starts with your 100 most recently updated Xero invoices." and that is where it starts.
  • If the pause lasts 60 days or more, Xero may need reconnecting. See connect Xero.
  • If you do not subscribe, your account is deleted 12 months after the trial ended, with a warning email 14 days before. See how long data is kept.

Payment problems

If a monthly payment fails, DocketBridge keeps attaching dockets for 24 hours so you can fix it.

  1. Straight away. The Billing card shows PAYMENT FAILED: "Your last payment did not go through. Press Manage billing to update your card. Dockets keep attaching until" and the time, "then pause until the payment goes through." The status still reads RUNNING. DocketBridge emails you "Your DocketBridge payment did not go through".
  2. After 24 hours. If the payment still has not gone through, attachments pause. If DocketBridge was running, the status reads "PAYMENT FAILED, paused". The Billing card says "Attachments are paused because your payment has not gone through. Press Manage billing to update your card and pay the outstanding invoice. DocketBridge resumes by itself once the payment goes through." and Run once now shows "Attachments are paused until your payment goes through". DocketBridge emails you "DocketBridge has paused until your payment goes through".
  3. To fix it, press Manage billing on the Billing card. In Stripe's billing portal, update your card and pay the outstanding invoice. Do not subscribe again; one subscription is enough.
  4. Once the payment goes through, DocketBridge resumes by itself at the next check, without pressing Start, and catches up on invoices updated in Xero since its last finished check, going back up to 90 days (or, with no finished check to start from, starts with your 100 most recently updated invoices). DocketBridge emails you "DocketBridge is running again".

The 24 hours count from the first failed payment and are not extended by Stripe's retries. Stripe retries the payment for a while. If it never goes through, Stripe either cancels the subscription or leaves it unpaid. Attachments stay paused either way, and nothing is deleted. After a cancellation the Billing card shows SUBSCRIPTION ENDED and you can subscribe again.

Manage billing and cancel

  • Press Manage billing on the Billing card. It opens Stripe's billing portal, where you can update your card, pay an outstanding invoice or cancel. The portal brings you back to your dashboard.
  • Manage billing is there while you are subscribed, while a payment has failed, and after your trial has ended if you have subscribed before. It is not there before you first subscribe.
  • After cancelling, access continues to the end of the paid billing period unless Stripe shows otherwise. The Billing card says "Your subscription is cancelled and ends on" and the date. Automatic attachments then pause.
  • Cancelling does not delete your account or settings. See disconnecting and your data.
  • Pausing DocketBridge, or removing its access to ServiceM8 or Xero, does not cancel your subscription. Cancel in Manage billing. Delete account on your dashboard does cancel it, straight away.

When a subscription ends

  • Once a cancelled subscription reaches the end of its paid period, or Stripe cancels it after failed payments, the Billing card shows SUBSCRIPTION ENDED and attachments pause. If DocketBridge was running, the status reads "SUBSCRIPTION ENDED, paused".
  • Press Subscribe to start again at the full price. A running account resumes at the next check and catches up as described above.
  • Your account is kept for 12 months after the subscription ends, then deleted, with a warning email 14 days before.

Refunds

There are no refunds or credits for part months, except where Australian law requires them. See the Terms of Service.
